My first painting this year – Black & Gold II, 2018
Also, the first of many in a small collection I’ll be doing for Judith Liegeois Designs in Naples. Florida.
I am beyond happy to be showing with her. I encourage everyone to visit her website at http://www.judithliegeoisdesigns.com and if you are in Naples, Florida, please drop in and visit her gallery. You’ll love it!
One of my latest pieces, “Prelude to a Prance”, was a very large 84″x84″, oil on canvas. Irwin and Claude Lande of Montreal (Westmount) commissioned it. My clients wanted a painting that captured the horse’s power.
They wanted to feel the movement, sound and intensity of the horse lifting up the soil under its hoofs. I studied for days, learning the anatomy and understanding the way a horse moves in space. The pose that I painted captures the moment just before the peak of action, just before the horse abruptly stops and goes up on its back legs. It is at that point that the soil is being lifted and sent into a cloud of dust under its body.
